Join Lisa Patterson Raterman, RN, BSN for the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction class.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is developed from the foundational work of Jon Kabat-Zinn. MBSR is a method of dealing with stress and finding joy in daily life. MBSR is a secular program, which employs evidence-based research and a scientific framework, to guide individuals with practical steps to engage in their health and lifelong wellness. By practicing meditation and mindfulness techniques, participants can develop increased focus, find empowerment and stillness, and reduce stress, pain, depression, and anxiety. Lisa Patterson Raterman is certified to teach MBSR by Brown University and the University of California, San Diego.
Classes are open to the general public. All adult learners welcome.
Includes eight 2.5 hour sessions, one Saturday Silent Retreat, and a one hour Orientation via Zoom.
I came to MBSR with an increasing amount of anxiety in my personal life. I needed to find a way to deal with it and this 8-week course was my savior! Every week, I was able to integrate the mental and physical exercises into my life on a daily basis. I learned to minimize and control my anxiety through breathing, movement, and thought-inducing strategies. Lisa's approach and techniques were practical and brought calm and peace of mind to my life.
Classes are in Lincoln Park, IL at DePaul University Health and Wellness Center and at the Working Mindfulness Studio.
